Teen Portrait Photography with Tatiana in Downtown Reno’s Freighthouse District

This teen portrait photography session with Tatiana was an absolute blast! It was a hot and busy day in Downtown Reno, with a Reno Aces game in full swing and even a fashion show going down at the Siena. We started in the Freighthouse District and worked our way to a graffiti covered wall just past downtown Reno. We found out during the shoot that art is one of Tatiana’s interests, so the locations ended up meshing very well with her style, especially because she brought outfits ranging from casual to dressy. Thank you for being an excellent model for us, Tatiana, and an extremely intelligent and lovely person all around as well!

Are you a teen between the age of 15-18? We are giving away a limited number of FREE 1-hour on-location teen portrait photography sessions to teens and high school seniors!! To participate, you do not need modeling experience, but you must want to have your photos taken and your parent or legal guardian’s permission. Creative Portrait Photography with Makayla in Verdi, NV – full post

S0 – Matt and I set out to do this portrait photography session for the red balloon project, but we realized how much we like working with this age range…we’re definitely going to expand our “senior photography” and teenage portrait portfolio. In fact, we’re looking for models aged 14-18 for a limited number of free creative sessions and to represent Matt and Jentry: Photographers in their school! If you or anyone you know is interested, just email jentry@mattandjentry.com with a photo, what school the teen goes to and what grade they are in and we will be in touch!

Can you believe that we got all these shots from about 2.5 hours of shooting? That’s the beauty in bringing multiple outfits and props that express your personality. Makayla was prepared with her guitar, a book and a fantastic wardrobe and accessories. And of course, she modeled the red balloon for us perfectly :) I know I’ve said thanks to Makayla’s mom, Michon, owner of Parkway Salon (inside Pinnacle Wellness & Healing Spa), in the sneak peek blog post, but THANK YOU again for your wonderful hair and makeup skills, as well as your help during the shoot. It was more than amazing to have an on-site stylist with us :) We loved photographing Makayla, and we so look forward to working with her more!

Red Balloon Project – A Creative Shoot in Verdi, NV

I’m so excited to share these images today! This is the “red balloon” project that I mentioned in my previous post. A group of photographers in Reno, NV and surrounding areas decided to do a cool photography project (that will likely be a monthly challenge) where a prop is chosen that must be included in our photos. In the end, we have to post 5 images involving the prop. This time, it was a red balloon…which is a really fun prop, I must say. Volatile. Kind of see-through. Could possibly float away at a moments notice…it was actually pretty challenging to work with. Our first large (and expensive) balloon lost most of it’s helium after only 40 minutes or so, even though we were promised this thing would last for like 4 hours. Luckily, Matt and I came prepared…with some standard balloons and our own helium tank. BAM! We had so much fun with this entire shoot, and we love how our red balloon series turned out! Here are the 5 photos that we chose from our creative shoot with Makayla – these are the “best of the best” from the series of photos where the balloon was involved. Sneak Peek of Makayla at our boho-chic creative shoot!

We’re participating in a fun local photography challenge of sorts, where the object is to show 5 photos where a specific prop is featured. This time, the prop was a red balloon. I didn’t know entirely what I wanted to do with this shoot, but I started looking for a teenage model, and Makayla was recommended to us – and she did a fabulous job. She was so great to work with and we’re so excited to work with her more in the future! I’ll be posting images from the “red balloon” shoot soon, but for now, here is just a sneak peek of Makayla in one of her boho-chic outfits – after we ditched the red balloon :) I’d like to give a huge special thanks to Makayla’s Mom, Michon of Parkway Salon in Reno, NV for doing Makayla’s hair and makeup AND for bringing an AMAZING wardrobe to work with!
